Church Fathers Help
The "Church Fathers" webpage, like many other webpages for this website, consists of a table at the top and several trees at the bottom.
The "Church fathers" tree contains two child nodes, one for the early church fathers and one for the Lutheran church fathers starting with Martin Luther.
The "Early church fathers" node expands to include key individuals prior to Martin Luther, with the majority being those of the early Christian church (before the fall of the Roman Empire). Note that after each of the early church fathers there is a Wikipedia image for viewing their Wikipedia article, and a New Advent image for viewing the corresponding information from the New Advent web site. Each of these names is also yellow-underlined indicating that clicking it will add that individual to the table at the top (for further research).
Expanding the node for an individual shows key documents written by that individual. At the end of the nodes for each individual are nodes that, when the trailing image is clicked, will display the thriftbook used books about, and by, that individual, the Internet Archive (free for online viewing) books about, and by, that individual and a YouTube link for viewing videos about that individual.
The "An Outline of Church History" node covers some of these same church fathers, but does so based on a time organization defined in the Lutheran Study Bible. A future version of this web site will present a timeline graphical presentation that shows not only the church fathers but also the important political figures and historical events over the history of the church.
The "Concordia Commentary authors" node shows the various authors of the commentaries for the books of the Bible. These authors are ordered based on the book of the Bible for which they wrote the commentary.
The "LSB hymn authors and translators' shows all the authors and translators for the LSB (and TLH) hymns. For each author/translator the Hymnary information for that individual is available, followed by (for most) the Wikipedia (or other biography) article, and ending with an image that, when clicked, will display all the LSB (and TLH) hymns authored or translated by that individual.
The "LSB hymn composers/arrangers' shows all the composers and arrangers for the LSB (and TLH) hymns. For each composer/arranger the Hymnary information for that individual is available, followed by (for most) the Wikipedia (or other biography) article, and ending with an image that, when clicked, will display all the LSB (and TLH) hymns composed or arranged by that individual.
Clicking any of the yellow-underlined names will add that name to the table at the top from which more research can be performed.
